    Craft Season

Also know as "winter", "too cold to go out", "it gets dark super early", and "cabin fever" to name a few.
    Island with a palm tree
So we used some projects to entertain ourselves and keep our sanity.....OK, I confess....MY sanity.  And, really, everything went well.  To formally start all these things, well, it took a lot of planning/organization on my part (mostly because I wanted to do Christmassy things) and so the first project was our worst as we all got used to "doing crafts" together and then things just kept getting better and better.....and don't be fooled....Beth LOVED the gingerbread house....it was just that she was ready for dinner when I decided to take the pic and that made her upset.  In steps big brother and that just made her livid! Wink (Not pictured...Rice Krispie Bars and various Christmas cookies)

We are now ready for the rest of the winter....We will have more fun indoors for sure....Snowmen...Oooo now there is a ton of fun to be had with that as the main idea....and then when the thermometer actually reads a positive number, then we will be ready for the real thing! Open-mouthed

    SNOW much fun...shoveling

This video is a tribute to some of the fun you can have in the snow....and the fact that the kids are growing up so fast and want to do whatever Nathan (in this case) is doing!  And I do say tribute because it is extremely cold here today.....and we will be staying in until that thermometer reads a positive numeral and preferably with 2 digits!!

*Disclaimer: this was an impulse shovel-fest after church a couple of weeks ago and so the snowpants were in the house....this is usually how they dress for the winter wonderland that is in our yard --> Open-mouthed

And after getting cold, you need to warm up with Hot Chocolate!!!  Probably good for today too!!!Wink

    Christmas Music

It was a BIG music day on Sunday  (Big because it was busy, it was our first time as parents to have OUR child participating, and then Tyler was super excited about all the music) :

StarFirst there was the part where we went to church...Nathan was teaching in Tyler's class and then the 3 yr olds and up (maybe to 5 yr or something) got to come into the large service and sing with/for the adults.  This video is part of Tyler's song at church.  Dang they were all so cute and a friend thought that Nathan did the best donkey ears up there....that's nice! Open-mouthed

StarLater, after juggling naps a smidge, we had Tyler's school Christmas concert.  This was a half hour show with just kids.  Man!  They did such a super job....half hour of singing, and jumping, and hand motions, and really no "AFHomeVideos" antics, just a lot of yawning, nose picking, looking around, blank stares....sorry, no video for this because I've got it on another camera that is much older technology and I haven't gotten the transition to the internet down yet.  Hey, you do get still pictures though!!!

Red heartCherubs singing at Christmas time....that'll get 'ya in the Christmas spirit!

    Giving Thanks

Phewwww.  Time has flown since my last entry!  I am thankful that we had that time and all the events that happened in that time frame so I guess I will use those events and things as the next few blog entries....so say tunedWink as I get caught up.

Thanksgiving day was at our house this year.  We got to host.  That is nice.  I like the hosting part.  But I was then required to cook and anyone that knows me really ought to find that part hilarious!!!Tongue out

But planning for the BIG Thursday started out with the main goal to keep things simple because there probably wouldn't be a whole lot of people and my mom would be coming from Mayo and all of her radiation appointments.  We knew we could all just use a day of relaxation, low stress, and then we might actually able accurately reflect on all the things we are truely thankful for.

So, we ordered the main meal from a local grocery store so that all we had to do was reheat everything.  Nice.  But then the numbers started increasing because my grandmother got a ride up Iowa and my brother and his family flew into town from Seattle to look for a house in Bemidji that very Thanksgiving week (They will be living in MN soon - WooHoo).  OOOoo, lots of people, and all the kids...what fun!!!  And the meal we ordered would still feed everyone!.  Yes!

Prepping meant that Nathan and I worked hard at cleaning (the kind we needed to do since moving in...aka hang pictures and things to get them off the floor).  We found beds for everyone.  And then the weekend before Thanksgiving, we found out that our house was going to be re-roofed Tues. and Wed. (and it turned out to be the Fri., Mon., and Tues. after too) right before BIG Thursday.  So things needed to come off the walls to prep for that.  Hhhmm.

Aside from all the noise from the roofers, we had a great Thanksgiving day (there were no roofers on Thursday!)!!!  It was filled with good food, crafts, kids playing....here are some pictoral highlights:  (The center piece that Tyler made at school)
(The part of the crew that was able to get together)
(Craft time with Grandma = These Turkeys! Yippee!)

Phew...Good times....But that was just some of the activities....What are we thankful for?!?!?
    Well, we are thankful for:
    "my Teddy" - Tyler
    food on the table
    family
    friends
    health
knowledgable help from our various healthcare professionals
    our house
the roofers not working on thanksgiving day
and I will end with the love of our Lord....because I could go on and on by being more and less specific in so many areas and frankly the list is HUGE!!!

    Thanks for reading!Wink

    2 Things

Well, first of all, I have been busy....hence the lack of blogging.

Secondly, I have been having some technology issues with the blog. So, I figure that if I can get this little blurb posted, then that is one technological hurdle that I have figured out and then I will be on my way to solving the other tech issues.

See you when I am next able to post!Wink
